Dubai Hip Hop Heat In the second installment of Nokia Inside Music we take a closer look at Hip Hop culture in the UAE, Dubai. Taking a different approach we examine the musical elements of Hip Hop and how they’ve been adapted locally. In a vibrant mix of interviews, performances and educational segments centered on the three hosts – Danny Neville, DJ Bliss and Maj – Dubai’s Hip Hop community is revealed. The artists’ hunger and ambition – be they rappers, DJs, producers or dancers – to be a successful part of what can only be called a global movement is palpable throughout the piece.

Nokia Inside Music /Dubai Club Sounds In the pilot of this episodic documentary series commissioned by Nokia, Avantgarde Film, guided by Dubai DJ icon Mr. Mr., explored Dubai’s club and electronic music scene. A stylistic fusion, part reality show, part music documentary, the episode dives headfirst into the world of Dubai Djs, producers and promoters. Generously interspersed with club footage, the viewers are educated by different DJs on topics ranging from what you need to make a track, to where you can get DJ equipment and vinyl, and of course, where to party. While painting a picture of the Dubai house and club scene, the piece also seeks to engross and entertain the audience through the subject matter. In addition to introducing us to the biggest local acts, some international names are also featured; including a living legend.

The market launch of the new Audi TT in Middle East starts with an emotional bang: in a media installation three animations in HD quality are operated synchronously – four combined LCD monitors provide an all embracing movie, which launches the new Audi TT in a lively and emotional way. A virtual DJ adds the music for the breathtaking experience.

Audi Q5 Holographic Launch Movie To introduce the new Audi Q5 at the launch and marketing events across Germany, Audi asked Avantgarde Film for something particularly exciting and impressive for their prospective customers. We rose to the challenge and designed a state-of-the-art hologram. A virtual presenter, filmed with the cutting-edge RED system in 4K resolution, introduces the features of the Audi Q5. While the moderator speaks, the car slowly transforms from a drawn blueprint diagram to photo realistic 3D splendor in full view of the audience. The piece was produced in only two months and breathtakingly rendered in 4K resolution. The processing power that went into rendering the vehicle in 3D would have taken a normal computer a full year to complete.

No boundaries. On the coastline of Dubai the image movie that Avantgarde Film created for XSMG Marine’s superboat was produced. It encompasses every characteristic the boat had to offer from exceptional design to its ultimate power. The composition of the music and the fast pace feel of the film; offers viewers an experience of pure heart pounding adrenalin.

Tropicana / Parallel life

Shot in the picturesque country of South Africa; the commercial for PepsiCo’s Orange Juice Tropicana was brought to life by the Avantgarde Film team. In the commercial we captured parallel lives of a farmer and a mother both showing the labours of love; one to his orchard and the other to her loving family. The commercial is fresh, captivating, heart felt and viewers can relate to the characters.

twofour54 October 2008, Avantgarde Middle East organized the spectacular launch-event for twofour54 – an extraordinary project that seems to be unmatched around the world. For this occasion Avantgarde Film sent out their teams tirelessly traversing the globe to film a series of interviews with the projects’ international partners and creators, such as the Financial Times, The Thomson Reuters Foundation, Rotana, Random House etc. Besides the partners, the minds behind this new creative hub of the future explained their vision.

PARCOUR


Nokia Parcour
SONY PARCOUR Sony invited Avantgarde Film to produce a motivational short film for their professional film equipment sales force at the Sony IBC event in Amsterdam this year. Taking inspiration from the opening scene of the James Bond sequel ‘Casino Royal’, the film was made into a Parcour showcase accompanied by an especially composed spy-music theme. The airy acrobatics featured in an urban setting, beautifully filmed in HD, and the adrenaline-inducing score, turned out to be just the right mood-setter for a motivational sales kick off.

Masdar


Masdar
Creating a manifesto for sustainable life. Foster+Partners entrusted Avantgarde Film to create an image movie for the unique and prestigious Masdar Development in Abu Dhabi. The Masdar Project demonstrates Abu Dhabi’s leading role in sustainable and environmentally friendly living. This new city will be the first of its kind where carbon emissions will be reduced, where waste is transformed into energy, where the need for desalinated water is decreased and where more than half of its water consumption will be recycled. Powered completely by renewable energy - Masdar is the city of the future.

Al Madina A’ Zarqa

A new city is born in the world. The rarest of occurrences is the birth of a new city. Al Madina A’ Zarqa is one of the most important developments in the Middle East created by architects from Foster+Partners. At the laying of the Foundation Stone, Avantgarde Film brought this vision alive in an image movie, which features the past, the present and the future of Oman’s cultural and architectural identity. In addition Avantgarde Film produced the holographic presenter, who guided the exclusive audience on a virtual journey through the ceremony.

MUDON

MUDON “Step into Mudon. Five cities. One life.” In this region spanning homage to the Dubai Properties project, Mudon, Avantgarde Film, in cooperation with MPaiPlus, fuses the five bastions of Arabia – Baghdad, Beirut, Cairo, Damascus, and Marrakech – together to form an image of what will be Mudon. This cinematically inspired flythrough weaves together footage, CGI, audio and text while it follows the protagonist as he ventures through some of the most famous landmarks of each capital. As he returns to his family, bearing gifts, the film reveals to the audience that he in fact never left Mudon, truly expounding the uniqueness of the project.

Clean Energy Media Table

For the clean energy media conference table, a table was transformed into a large monitor – and exceeded all the expectations of those used to conventional video monitors. A presentation of images and phrases moved over the entire length of the 10-meter long media table and left a lasting impression on all guests. A moving 360° projection on the walls of the room where the event was held allowed visitors to completely submerge themselves in the world of clean energy.

This Life (Dieses Leben) Musikvideo

Rarely has a video clip by a German band caused as much excitement as the This Life video by Juli. Avantgarde Film staged the fall of singer Eva Briegel, which is shown in reverse, with a complex production and post-production process. An 18-meter crane at the fi lm location, a helicopter flight over Berlin reverse-engineered in 3D, and lots of special effects made the clip so sensational that it easily made it into the top 10 chart.


PAL Technology

Reem B

The history of humanoid robots (the white room) It was a privilege when Avantgarde Film was approached by PAL Technology, a company of The Royal Group Abu Dhabi, to create a film for what is considered to be the world’s most sophisticated humanoid robot named Reem B. The film was screened at the launch of the robot, which was attended by dignitaries such as Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and his entourage. The movie features Reem B who is presenting the history of robotics while demonstrating his skills. He is able to accept voice commands, speak to people, orientate himself in any room, walk dynamically and lift weights, all of which enables him to assist humans.
